Dear J. Pilař,
I enjoyed your letter. If everyone handled personal crises as sincerely and honestly, there would never occur the disgusting and cowardly attacks that we see today. You have no reason for concern, I think only the best of you and am glad to see you whenever you come. Deal with the book as best you can. I only ask one thing of you: wherever you are, make sure people behave as well as you. It seems that there are more people there who would like to handle matters of culture by way of the sewer, the street, the drain, or a bridge.
